Had not thought of this story in the light of developmental mindset, now it makes a lot of sense. Many times we are quick to fix the immediate needs without involving the affected people which denies them the opportunity to learn how to solve the issue at hand even in the future. Being intentional about developmental mindset requires patience but the results are enduring. Great learning.

I am equiped to equip the church to have a developmental midset. This is the new objective of compassion for the church as the churches need to grow to support the ministry themselves.

I have loved this great video clip on Jesus training his disciples on how to look for developmental opportunities that more often than not are just around us or within our context.Let's always remember that children are an enormous resource in the kingdom of God.The boy possibly gave the food he had been sent by his caregiver to buy and bring home.
Another bible story that has great lessons on how FCPs and church communities can learn in preparing for food security, future droughts and famines comes from Genesis 41:46-57.There was no technology in Joseph's time yet he knew what to do in the years of plenty and prepare for years of scarcity and even provided food to neighboring communities. Qavah methodology helps churches to describe their communities, draw their seasonal calendars and help to identify opportunities within seasons as learned from the past and how the changing seasons mean and impact the community hence help in making wiser decisions. What are we doing with all the produce that comes from caregivers-post- harvest storage, value addition to their products etc.Let's support them to start small and grow.
