Real life stories illuminate how the local church is helping to rescue and restore children in the name of Jesus.
Compassion International, World Vision, Buckner International, Christian Broadcast Network and International Justice Mission have joined forces to form the “Christian Movement Against Violence Against Children” (MOCVIN). In support of this movement, MOCVIN has created a series of four resources designed for adults in the context of the church who are interested in helping children and specifically, protecting them from sexual violence.

The Aprendemos a cuidarnos series developed by Compassion in Ecuador helps to educate children so that they know and recognize the potential situations of sexual abuse and learn to face them.
This book Children, is part of Compassion’s Ministry Philosophy Series, which explores various concepts that are essential to Compassion's mission of releasing children from poverty in Jesus' name. In Children, we address the importance, vulnerability and suffering of children. This resource also affirms the amazing potential of children and shows that effective child development creates strategic, sustainable change not only for the individual child but also for large-scale social change. Finally, Children reviews holism and child development essentials to help children thrive.
ForChildren encourages all who are committed to holistic child development to develop and commit to a code of conduct for the protection and safeguarding of the children they serve as a part of their ministry’s overall approach to child protection. A code of conduct sets expectations for behavior, and we recommend this is paired with ongoing training, active conversations about child protection, consistent application of child protection policies and rules, and a culture that encourages mutual accountability to keep children safe.
As an example, here you will find the Code of Conduct for Compassion International. This Code of Conduct opposes all forms of child abuse and exploitation and commits Compassion to do everything within their power to ensure that no harm comes to any child registered in their program due to his or her involvement in the ministry of Compassion International. As such, Compassion employees, church partner staff, Global Partner staff and any visitor who will be in contact with a child in the Compassion program, must abide by and sign a code of conduct that specifies acceptable and unacceptable behavior of adults toward children. This resource is available in English and Spanish.
HCD organizations are invited to use and adapt the Compassion Code of Conduct for the realities of their child protection work.
